Gripper for sand cores
Challenge
Sand cores that were removed from a core shooter and assembled to a core package needed to then be submerged in a coating basin. The core package needed to be turned in this process. The coating is used in the foundry to improve the surface quality of cast parts. Due to the sand, which becomes loose over time in the coating, the coating is highly abrasive and requires extremely resistant components.
Solution
This solution is based on a pneumatic gripper in a linear guide design. It is sealed to protect it from sand and dust. Specially developed servo swivel jaws can be submerged in the coating, allowing the component to be rotated in the coating basin.
