Gripper for differential housings
Challenge
For loading a machining center, differential housings needed to be inserted into a clamping unit or other device. The correct orientation of the component in the gripper needed to be checked here. Another challenge was that only a hydraulic system was available as a drive medium in the system.
Solution
The basic structure consists of proven Zimmer Group standard components that have been adapted to the existing prerequisites (hydraulic system). In doing so, the Zimmer Group SF100 (swivel unit), GP400 (gripper) and SB100 (swivel jaw) series were used. The position of a through-hole was checked using an actively positionable light barrier to determine the proper position. This prevented crashes.
